MilanoR Meeting is a free event, open to all R users and enthusiasts or those who wish to learn more about R. Places are limited so, if you would like to attend to the MilanoR meeting, please register here.
I want to know more about the talks..
R and big data: Spark and MongoDB are a fantastic opportunity to enhance R with big-processing and big-data features. We present a walkthrough to setup a working environment which will put Spark’s parallel processing and Mongo’s huge data handling capabilities at your fingertips in R. We will discuss the main features of SparkR with MongoDB and provide a toy example.
R and statistical learning: In the semiconductor industry, early power estimation is a critical requirement for Systems-on-Chip architects and marketing, which must provide competitive, yet realistic, power consumption quotations to customers in order to achieve design wins. In this talk, we will present an innovative approach for early power consumption estimation based on statistical learning techniques. The proposed statistical model has been developed in R and validated on two taped-out products for networking in leading-edge CMOS technology.
..and the speakers..
Thimoty Barbieri is contract professor of Software Engineering at the University of Pavia. He is a Certified Mongo DB Developer and Administrator. Among his research interests are big data applications in the financial domain. He is an enthusiast R user.
Marco Biglieri is a Software Engineering undergraduate at University of Pavia. He is currently working at his Master thesis on Big Data processing architectures for interactive analysis of financial data based on the FIX
protocol, using R, SparkR and Mongo DB.
Davide Pandini holds a Laurea Degree in Electronics Engineering from the University of Bologna, a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications from the University of Padova, and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, U.S. He is a design manager and a senior member of the Technical Staff at STMicroelectronics, in Agrate Brianza, responsible for power optimization and integrity in the ASIC Division. Since June 2015 he is the Chairman of the ST Italy Technical Staff.
